[Poem] Answers in the Wind

2007-11-18 @ 9:20 p.m.

There are answers in the wind
There are voices in the sea
When I reach out into the darkness
Something answers me

I am hanging by a thread above the deep
A churning pit of fire
Flames lick at my feet
And there are stones in my mouth

But the rainclouds part and sun shines through
Soaked to the skin, I can barely see in the light
Like a creature born and raised in shadow
It hurts me

Can I be strong enough to reach out for His hand?
The comfort of tradition binds me here
The ease of day-to-day sorrow
If it weren't for the pain I could drown without a thought

He calls my name
I hear Him whisper in the wind
In the waves
He is beckoning me; asking me to be brave.
